Lately, Archie and I have been playing around with an app called Duolingo.
This is a great app for learning a new language (which is something I’m keen to do).
Well, that app does something which I’m a huge fan of.
That is… it tests you a lot.
When people teach languages, there is a big emphasis on testing students.
That is because it works.
In the music world, not enough teachers do this for their students, in my opinion.
I’m a big believer in testing my students on the guitar.
I’ve done it ever since I started teaching where I would test students on their knowledge and skills in every lesson.
I love it, and they love it too.
Testing is a fun way to challenge yourself and see where you’re at and where you need to improve.
So, on that note, the power of testing is the topic of today’s episode of the Acoustic Asylum podcast.
You’ll get a quick ear training test on major, minor, dominant 7th chords, a fun ‘doomy’ riff, a mini 2-chord progression, and more.
It’s a little later than I usually release the podcasts, but here it is…
You can check it out below if you have an iPhone/Apple device.
…Or you can listen in a variety of other ways HERE.
Recently, a few students were having issues accessing the Acoustic Asylum website. Sorry about that – I think the “Gatekeeper” threw a spanner in the works there!
All is fixed, but please let me know if you have any issues.
Enjoy.
