A lot of guitarists can play a few fingerpicking songs and knock out some fingerstyle patterns but a lot don`t ever do any exercises for their fingerpicking hand. Yet, they wonder why they lack speed, dexterity and agility with their picking hand. This video, featuring two simple fingerpicking exercises will help you with this. [Read more…]
“Silent Night” is one of the most recognisable Christmas carols of all time, and in my opinion one of the most spiriting and emotional. Here we have the video of me playing it and the tab and chords below so you can learn it too!
Happy Easter and happy April everyone. I have a wonderful fingerpicking free video for you all. It is the beautiful `April Come She Will` by the legendary Simon and Garfunkel.
I love this piece of music. It is so dramatic, recognisable and it makes classical guitar a joy to play and listen to. So many classical pieces out there that are recommended for the guitar are either pretty dull or aren`t recognisable. `Toccata and Fugue in D minor` is so far and away from those pieces. It just sounds amazing.

Travis Picking is a subject many of you have told me specifically you want to learn more about.
Fingerpicking is a wonderful part of guitar playing and it is one of my favourite things to do on a guitar – especially on a nice acoustic guitar. The trouble is many guitarists do not really know how to fingerpick properly.
Today we have the video for pattern number 7 in the free eBook “Fingerstyle 101: Learn 8 Beautiful Fingerpicking patterns That Every Guitarist Should Know”.
If you have already downloaded the free eBook – Fingerstyle 101: : Learn 8 Beautiful Fingerpicking patterns That Every Guitarist Should Know, then you will have come across this simple but wonderful sounding fingerpicking pattern.
Now you can watch the video too. Some guitarists learn better via video and some via tab and eBooks. Most however learn better with a combination of both, so get the eBook out and watch the video to learn this super cool pattern.
If you want to download two free eBooks (in both pdf and kindle formats) one of which is “Fingerstyle 101: Learn 8 Beautiful Fingerpicking patterns That Every Guitarist Should Know” head HERE.

`Falling Slowly` is a great song from the film `Once` by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.
There isn`t a sweeter sound in the history of the universe than a beautiful fingerpicked song played well.
I just love how sweet the lyrics are too – so much so I have written them out below.
Have fun and prepare to be loved when you perform this amazing song!

Falling Slowly Lyrics
I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ll make it now
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing along
