Welcome to a new weekly 10-second tip.
This is a very simple tip that many of you use already.
Others may have never tried it though and even those that have may have forgotten how good this can sound.
So, here it is…
“Use easy embellishments.”
When you want to have a bit of fun and jam, try this:
- Strum or fingerpick any chord you know…
- Add and remove a finger to or from the chord as you do so.
- For example, strumming a C chord while lifting your index finger on and off the 1st fret of the B string often sounds great.
You can try this tip for any chord.
Every chord is different, and they all have their own flavours for this.
At first, I like to get students to work on one chord at a time, embellishing it while playing a strum pattern they know.
The key is to experiment, have fun, and jam!
This is a great way of adding some extra melody to your playing, so give it a go.
Have a fun Friday!
