guitar teaching success

Firstly, I just want to give you a heads up…

In a few hours, enrolment for the Dan Thorpe Acoustic Academy closes. (After this time you will no longer be able to join for this month).

Right now, here’s something you’ll find interesting:

A member of the academy recently asked me if I could narrow down what are the most important things to focus on as a newbie when it comes to guitar playing.

It’s a great question, and my response was this.

“Make your first big goal to learn five simple songs from start to finish. Be patient and spend the first 6 months of your playing focusing on ultra-precise technique. Have fun every day and try to improve one thing daily. As you learn songs, practise them super slowly and ensure everything you play sounds musical before moving onto the next part.”

It’s simple and in some ways very obvious advice which took me a fair bit of teaching time to figure out.

Obviously, I could expand upon this a lot…

…But if you follow it, you’ll improve faster than most and after 6 months, you’ll be well on the right path to being the guitarist you want to be.

I hope you follow that advice no matter if you’re brand new, stuck, or you need to change the direction of your playing.

As for ways to put this into practice, you can do it on your own, you can get a tutor to help you, or the new Dan Thorpe Acoustic Academy lessons will help.

The whole membership is built around this philosophy and each month, I release new lessons based on this way of teaching.

…Plus, you get a whole stack of other timeless, evergreen lessons to use as and when you need them.

Here are just a few of the highlights from this month’s lessons.

10 essential technical tips that’ll improve all your songs which every guitarist should know BUT most guitar tutors don’t teach.

Includes potentially game-changing techniques such as the “Brake/Blast” Method, the “Magnetic” hand, making smooth transitions, the power of learning notes in “Pairs” and much more…

How ukulele-style chords can make jamming, chord changing, and your songs instantly better.

If you struggle with F, Bm, C, G or any other tough “beginner” chords, this lesson will be crucial in ending the potentially painful slow chord changes and buzzing chords many guitarists hate.

Struggle with rhythm? “Rhythm Switching” is the one simple exercise I like to get all students to practise. It’s fast to learn and will help end any issues with speeding up and slowing down.

DTAA student Martin just said this about one of the new lessons…

“Worth its weight in gold. I have noted all your points in my theory notebook for ready reference. Thanks” – Martin

If you are in any doubt or worry about distractions, fear not, because throughout the month I’ll be sending you regular emails to keep you on track with the above.

There’s much more to the academy, but all the other stuff will be there as a bonus if you get a chance to use it.

The chance to get all of these lessons will be gone at midnight Pacific time…

So if you are on the fence, now is literally the last chance to join and you can do so at the link below:
