In case you don’t know, the I-IV-V chords are the most important in a key (Almost all popular songs use these three chords at various points).
In the key of A, the I-IV-V chords are – A Major, D Major, and E Major.
These chords have ‘root’ notes, which are open bass strings (low E, A, and D strings).
There are no other keys on the guitar that you can say the same for.
None.
So why is this knowledge so powerful?
Simply because it means:
- You can play lovely melodies anywhere on the fretboard.
- You always have access to an open string bass note which will keep the music sounding rich and full.
Simply pluck one of these bass strings, play the melody, and boom…
You now have music that sounds melodic, beautiful, and full of depth.
In other words, playing like this gives you the best of both worlds – a simple melody and easy bass notes that are at your fingertips.
As I said, you cannot do this with any other key on the guitar.
All other keys have root notes on fretted bass strings, which can mean lots of awkward and painful stretching.
The key of A and this new course solves this problem.
