ready for barre chords

Barre chords are something I love to teach.

Why?

For starters, I can really get into the nitty gritty of technique with these pesky little shapes.

This helps me help students to really go deeper and perfect the basics of their technique.

You see with open chords, to a certain extent, you can get away with slightly sloppy technique…

But with barres, there’s far less margin for error…

Unless you like injury and pain that is.

Which, of course, is none of us.

So, before you commit to playing any sort of barre chord, I highly recommend you find out how ready you are…

This means checking your fundamental technique so that each finger is on its tips…

You are not inadvertently killing off any other strings…

…And you can stay relaxed while having the ability to add fingers in and out of the chord (the last point might seem strange but is super important).

These days, before playing any sort of barre, I get students to go through a 1-minute “Pre-barre test”.

This is where we cover the above in a super simple way, which very quickly highlights any precise issues so we can fix them ASAP.

Anyway, tomorrow, I’ll be releasing a new Dan Thorpe Acoustic Academy lesson where we cover this exactly.

So, if you want to improve your barre chords, you don’t want to miss it.

To get the lesson, you’ll need to join the membership before midnight tonight.
