Here is another Friday 10-second tip for you to enjoy…It’s all about the concept of pub quizzes and the guitar!
Here’s what I’m talking about:
How do you know if you’re making progress on the guitar?
It’s not always easy of course, but one way is to take a test.
I’ve always enjoyed pub quizzes.
If fact, I like them so much I often quiz my students on their guitar playing.
During most lessons, I’ll ask questions about things I’ve taught them, test them on their knowledge, and quiz them on what they are learning.
Sometimes I’ll do it more formally than other times, but either way, the effect is usually the same.
These students have fun, get reminders of key concepts, and spot areas they might need to refresh.
How often do you have your guitar knowledge tested?
I think it’s something all guitar teachers should do (learning should be interactive) but not many do it from what I gather.
So, if you can, find ways of getting tested on your playing.
For instance, you could get out there and quiz a guitar-playing friend on their knowledge and get them to do the same to you.
Ask them to play a certain chord, scale, or fingerpicking pattern.
It’s fun!
