Here is another weekly 10-second tip.

 

Breathe while you play!

 

Yes, it sounds so simple, but so many guitarists tense up and hold their breath as they play.

You may do this and not even realise it.

It often comes from battling, fighting, and trying to strangle the guitar.

If you ever find you hold your breath, and start to turn blue like a Smurf, try this…

Stop what you are playing at random points and take a few nice, slow, deep breaths.

This is especially important if you find you are starting to get frustrated, or tense.

Stop, breathe, and relax.

This is a subtle point, but an important one. It is also something I talk about in my Fingerstyle 101 book (along with a lot of other stuff).
