When I first started teaching guitar, I quickly realised that if you try to teach students a lot of chord based strumming songs, (which seems like the typical way to teach new students) they would find it difficult and get frustrated. I quickly realised a great way to motivate the student was to teach them riffs – particularly easy, classic riffs.

Top Ten greatest ‘supergroup’ guitar riffs of all time

Over the decades of rock’n’roll history there have many supergroups to be spawned from the fractured remains of many great bands. Often hugely anticipated and featuring legends of the time, many of these so-called ‘supergroups’ failed to deliver, but there were some who actually rose above the bland, ‘let’s do it for one more world tour’ attitude of some of these artists and created some music that was actually worth listening to.
