Lately, I have been reading a good book called Uncommon People: The Rise and Fall of the Rock Stars. In it, there is an interesting story about one of the biggest legends of music.
There are a lot of technical exercises out there in the land of learning guitar. Most are too complex and too intricate to be beneficial to most guitarists, beginners, and intermediates alike… Especially when guitarists do them the way most people teach them.
One thing I like to do when teaching students is to stack ideas together at the same time. This is where instead of teaching them one thing in isolation on its own… …I’ll combine it in a simple way with something else they have already learnt.
Here is a great story from Greek mythology. It is about a nasty trickster and deceitful king, called Sisyphus. Sisyphus was not a good king. He killed guests who came to his palace and even tricked and deceived Thanatos (Death)… Which, of course, angered the great god, Zeus.
